Can my patient take S. boulardii + FOS while receiving antibiotics?
Yes. S. boulardii + FOS is a yeast based probiotic with a prebiotic fiber (fructooligosaccharide) that supports the gut during courses of antibiotic administration. Its efficacy is not impeded by antibiotics since it is a yeast based product.
My patient has a yeasty skin/ear infection. Will this product make it worse?
S. boulardii is a beneficial yeast species that specifically stays within the intestinal lining to support the gut and is safe to use in patients who may have an underlying yeast condition.
